State Fair 4-H Volunteers Needed

State 4-H is still looking for volunteers to host the exhibit hall during the State Fair. The host greets visitors, promotes 4-H and keeps an eye on exhibits. Older 4-H'ers are welcome. State Fair Exhibit Release, Sept. 9

All Lancaster County 4-H static exhibits at State Fair must be picked up at the Lancaster Extension Education Center on Wednesday, Sept. 9 between 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

 

4-H Teen Council Invites New Members

4-H Teen Council members plan, set up and facilitate the annual 4th & 5th grade Lock-In.4-H Teen Council is a leadership organization for youth in grades 7–12. Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Shows

The Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Stock Show includes dairy, feeder calf & breeding beef, market beef, market broilers, meat goats, market lamb, market swine, rabbit and dairy steer.The Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Horse Show will be held on Sept. 19-20 at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln. The Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Stock Show will be held Sept. 24–27 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha. Free to attend ($8 parking at CenturyLink). Come support 4-H'ers and see if you'd like to exhibit next year!

Horse Awards Night, Oct. 1

Come help celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the 2015 Lancaster County 4-H horsemen! The annual Lancaster County 4-H Horse Awards Night will be Thursday, Oct. 1, 6:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Rd., Lincoln. Rabbit Clinic, Oct. 31

Sessions at the Rabbit Clinic include showmanship.A free 4-H Rabbit Clinic will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 9 a.m.–12 noon at the Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln. Open to all youth and families. This is a great opportunity to learn about the 4-H Rabbit Program which is open to all youth ages 8–18.

UNL Animal Science Open House, Oct. 26

UNL's Animal Science department is part of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.The Animal Science Open House will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, 6-8 p.m. at the Animal Science Complex on UNL East Campus. Educational booths appropriate for families with youth who are considering careers in animal science areas will be available.
