In their first collaboration, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Fine Art Photo Club and Metropolitan Community College of Omaha’s Metro Photo Club present “PhotoClub2,” an exhibition of 56 photographs from the student photo clubs from both institutions.

The exhibition will be on display Jan. 22-Feb. 15 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall at UNL and is a primary feature of Lincoln PhotoFest during the month of February. A reception will be held on First Friday, Feb. 1 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. Both the gallery and reception have free admission and are open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m.

Each participating student submitted up to three photographs for consideration and the photographs for PhotoClub2 were chosen through the clubs exchanging submissions and jurying work from the other club. The clubs held separate jurying meetings to critique the photographs and determine which were to be selected for the exhibition. In addition, each club chose one photograph from the other club to be awarded with an honor. These honors will be announced at the First Friday reception on Feb. 1.

Formed in 2011, the UNL Fine Art Photo Club is an organization founded by students in the Department of Art and Art History’s studio art program. In addition to regular meetings to further develop the work of individual students, the club travels to regional and national conferences, holds sales promoting student work and participates in various exhibitions.

The UNL artists in the show are Karen Buettner, Pablo Caldeira, Brooke Choquette, Michelle Clifford, Karoline Dassie, Aubrey Davis, T.J. Deaver, Britni Dodd, Samantha Huismann, Nicole Hupp, Kelsey Ketcham, Andrea Maack, Michael Maly, Abigail Rice, Nathan Sanks and Chailey Young.

Now in its 10th year, Metro Photo Club continues to act as a forum for students to gain education experiences beyond the typical classroom. With an average annual membership of 60, the club facilitates exhibition opportunities, both on and off campus, and sponsors the Visiting Photographer Lecture Series, which brings photographers from around the country to present their work and offer photo-related workshops. Many club members are also members of the Society for Photographic Education and travel to regional and national conferences, where they attend lectures and receive feedback on their work from other educators from across the country.

Representing Metro Photo Club in this exhibition are Aubrie Rentería, Katie Gilliland, Dana Wickwire, Jim Kueffner, Rachel McClain, Katy Neisler, Michal Chaplin, Jeff Wild, Laura Burke, Tiffany Ferguson, Drew Davis, Alaina Hickman, Carol Iverson, Giselle Giroux, Jeff Wild, Kenton Brede and Brandon Longwell.
