Richard Viglucci, a third-year doctoral student, will be the featured soloist with the Treasure Coast Symphony in Stuart, Fla., on March 3.

He will perform Luigi Bassi's Concert Fantasy for clarinet on Motives from Verdi's Rigoletto.

Last summer, Viglucci was one of the clarinetists in the National Music Festival Orchestra in Chestertown, Md.

"After my performance one of the faculty mentors, Terrance Kirchgessner, came up to me and asked me if I'd be interested in performing my solo with the Treasure Coast Symphony, a symphony he conducts throughout the year," Viglucci said. "Mr. Kirchgessner presented the idea to the symphony board, who approved me as a guest soloist this season."

Viglucci is the recipient of a Hixson-Lied Fellowship and is a graduate teaching assistant in the clarinet studio of Hixson-Lied Professor of Clarinet Diane Barger. He also teaches at Union College.

A member of the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, Viglucci also regularly performs with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra and has been a contracted member of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, Minot Symphony Orchestra and Evanston Symphony Orchestra. In 2010 he became a clarinet artist for the Carl Fischer Trade Winds Educational Recording Ensemble.
