Leta Powell Drake (M.A. Theatre Arts 1967) has written a book titled "The Calamities of Kalamity Kate: A History of Nebraska's Children's TV Shows." A pioneer in children's TV, Drake's book is about her 15 years (1967-1982) as host of "Cartoon Corral," a local children's television show that aired on KOLN/KGIN-TV. The book also includes stories about Nebraska TV personalities such as Sheriff Bill, Silent Orv, Dr. San Guinary and the women who hosted "Romper Room," among others.

Garth Johnson (B.F.A. Studio Art 1997) has joined the Arizona State University Art Museum as its new curator of ceramics. He joins the museum from The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, where he served as curator of artistic programs, overseeing exhibitions, artist residency programs and community engagement.

Ethan Seagren (B.F.A. Film and New Media 2014) has accepted a full-time production assistant position at Industrial Light and Magic in San Francisco, Calif. Seagren completed an Academy of Television Arts and Sciences internship at Stargate Studios this past summer.

Valery Wachter (B.F.A. Studio Art 1983) is the featured artist in October at the new art gallery located on the first floor of Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. A different Nebraska artist is featured every month.
