The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is accepting submissions for 12-15 page scripts (projected run time 10-15 minutes) for the upcoming Carson Film, scheduled to begin shooting in the spring of 2018.

The story must be about Nebraska, be set in Nebraska, or could be filmed in Nebraska. Scripts with roles for college-age performers are preferred.

The winning script will be bought outright for $1,000.

Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Script submissions should be sent to Ian Borden, the chair of the Carson Film Committee at iborden2@unl.edu. Please use “Carson Film Script Competition” in the subject heading.

The Carson Film is a project combining professional filmmakers and actors with students from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, and shot with a significant budget.

Past professional participants have included Donald Petrie (Miss Congeniality, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days), Graham Shiels (Olympus, True Blood), Dean Winters (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Oz), and Jorge Zamacona (Quantico, The Last Ship).
