• March 1: Play with the Chiaras. 7 p.m. Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 119. Free and open to the public.

• March 2: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Robert Bubp Lecture. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Bubp is associate professor of art and design at Wichita State University. his current projects include research into traditions and local politics of street vending in different cultures.

• March 2-4 and 7-12: University Theatre presents "This Random World." Performances are 7:30 p.m. March 2-4 and March 7-11 and 2 p.m. on March 12. Studio Theatre, first floor of the Temple Building. • March 6: Large Brass Ensembles. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 199. Free and open to the public. he featured ensembles include the Husker Horn Choir, the UNL Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble and the Nebraska Trombone Ensemble.

• March 7: Symphonic Band. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets: $5 general or $3 students/seniors, available at the door. This concert will also be live webcast. With their program titled "Transitions," conducted by Tony Falcone, the Symphonic Band musically reflects on the concepts of letting go and moving forward. Music by Anthony O’Toole, Richard Wagner, Aaron Perrine, David Maslanka, Jay Ungar, and the late Karel Husa will be featured.

• March 9: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Rob Forbes Lecture. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Forbes is a designer and entrepreneur. He has held executive positions at numerous retail companies, but is best known as the Founder of Design Within Reach (1998) and PUBLIC Bikes (2010).

• March 10-24: Nebraska Young Artist Awards and the Statewide High School Invitational Exhibition. Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. Opening reception on Friday, March 10 from 6-8 p.m., where the visual art winners of the Nebraska Young Artist Awards will be announced.

• March 17: Faculty Recital: Greg Beaver, cello. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. Beaver is Research Associate Professor of Cello and Artist-in-Residence as a member of the Chiara String Quartet.

For advance ticket sales, contact the Lied Center Box Office at (402) 472-4747. Their program is titled "Beyond Their Years." A celebration of mature younger voices, this program features Mendelssohn's gratifying String Quartet in A minor, Op. 13, written when the composer was only 18 years old, as well as the winner of the 2016 Play with the Chiaras Competition, a current Glenn Korff School of Music student who will prove, through two rounds of judging, their readiness to perform on the Hixson-Lied Concert Series stage.
