Name: Shelly Egge
Job Title: Field Training Specialist

Where do you hail from:
I hail from Sidney, IA, although I am old enough that I have lived in Lincoln longer.

What is it they say you do:
I work within Health and Human Services – Child and Family Services. I work with Child and Family Services Specialists when they are newly hired and throughout their training experience. I am the liaison between training and HHS. I assist the trainee and supervisors with tracking and monitoring the trainees’ completion of training. When the CFSS completes their training, I then accompany them in the field when they are completing case management tasks and working with families. I provide them and their supervisor with feedback regarding their performance.

What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/ proudest achievement:
My greatest career satisfaction is my longevity in my position as a FTS. There have been MANY changes that have been made throughout the years and some of them have been pretty difficult. There were times it would have been easy to “jump ship,” but I believe in what I do and want to continue to mentor new CFS Specialists and hopefully pass on the passion that I have for the safety, permanency and well-being for children and families.

What is your passion/what you are drawn to/what motivates you/where do you hope to be in five years:
In five years I hope to be continuing to sit next to Jill Knox (fellow FTS) and working with the trainees and supervisors at HHS. She is the ying to my yang. She makes difficult days bearable and is a tremendous support to me. There’s nowhere else I would rather be in lifespan of my career.

Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
My family consists of my husband, Mark, my daughters Katelyn and Kylee and my son, Lucas. Our family is also blessed to have our dog, Charlie. Our family is actively involved in our church, St. Mark’s United Methodist, as we volunteer and serve in many different areas. I enjoy teaching Sunday school to Kindergarteners every Sunday, and Mark and I also serve as ushers a couple times a month. We also attend classes on Wednesday nights, as a way to rejuvenate our passion and focus for Christ. It is a great stress reliever! We also enjoy going to watch our daughter Katelyn play club volleyball. She plays for NE One and plays year-round. My daughter Kylee is involved in Girl Empowerment club at her school. She really enjoys being involved in this club and it has really helped her with her confidence and being able to stand up for herself. My son Lucas also plays club basketball and we enjoy watching him play. He plays for ABA. Lucas also plays soccer in the spring and fall and football in the spring and fall – AT THE SAME TIME. Ugh! We get pretty creative with schedules during this time, making sure that he gets to all his practices and games. We are most certainly grateful for our village of parents/friends that help us out when we are going in several different directions. I can definitely say that our family life is not boring. There is always something going on and someone that needs to be taken somewhere, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
