The public is invited to hear a Dr. Padmini Balaram speak about natural dyes Friday, December 6, 2013. She is visiting the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design as a Visiting Fulbright-Nehru Lecturer.
Dr. Padmini Balaram is Professor of Design, Silpa-sadana, Sriniketan, Visva-Bharati University, India, She will talk about her Eco-Friendly Natural Dyed Textiles and her inspirations in creating them. She will also talk about their possible use and advantages of using them. Examples some of her actual works will be displayed.
The lecture is free and open to the public. It coincides with the class that Dr. Balaram is teaching with Professor Wendy Weiss, TMFD 225 Surface Design on Textiles.
