Sheree Moser, assistant professor of practice in Child, Youth and Family Studies, has been named the Association of Career and Technical Education of Nebraska (ACTEN) Postsecondary Teacher of the Year. She received the award last month at the Nebraska Career Education Conference in Kearney.

ACTE and ACTEN Member Awards recognize excellence and dedication within the field of career and technical education among ACTE members. Recipients of these awards are exceptional individuals who have contributed to the success of career and technical education through the quality of their work and their involvement in the CTE community.

Moser’s lifelong passion has been to improve the lives of all individuals and families through her work with future teachers. Prior to teaching at UNL, Sheree was a curriculum specialist for Lincoln Public Schools. This experience gave her a unique perspective related to learning styles, designing curriculum and exposure to a level of diversity not common within most secondary teaching. Her students have commented that they appreciate the way she helps them navigate curriculum, share ideas for implementing lessons, and provide networking experiences within the family and consumer science professional community.

Sheree has been a member of ACTE and FCSTN since 1985. She has served as the president-elect, president, and past president of the Nebraska Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers of Nebraska. Sheree has published several articles, presented at many conferences, and served on a variety of committees for these organizations as well.

ACTEN is the professional association for career and technical educators in Nebraska. Established in 1946, ACTEN has some 350 members across Nebraska including teachers, administrators, teacher educators, career counselors, teacher candidates, business partners and other professionals who support or advocate for career and technical education.

In February, Moser received the Distinguished Service Award from the Nebraska Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.
