Winter Alternative Service Break (ASB)

Join UNL students, faculty, and staff as they travel by charter bus to California's Central Valley. ASB participants will study immigration, citizenship and migrant workers and their families. Students will have the opportunity to experience some of the Western US geographic wonders such as Rocky Mountains, Sierra Nevada Mountains, Pacific Ocean, High Desert, Sequoia National Park, National Archway Park, and the Grand Canyon. While in the Central Valley students will work along side migrant workers as well as learn from the national leading experts on immigration, workers rights, and education. Service projects include an environmental project in either the San Joaquin River Valley or the Sequoia National Forest and installing solar electric systems in the homes of low-income families. Applications are available online at engage.unl.edu and due to 222 Nebraska Union by December 6th at 5PM. The Pre-trip meeting for those already signed up has been moved to December 13th at 4PM in the Nebraska Union. Room is to be determined.
