This drive is done in conjunction with National Association of Letter Carriers and Lincoln Postal Service employees. A few days before the event a notice will be mailed to postal patrons informing them of the drive. They may participate by leaving non-perishable items by (not in) their mailboxes. On Saturday, May 9, mail carriers and volunteers will pick up donated items. These will be delivered to postal substations for eventual transport to the Food Bank of Lincoln.

Volunteer Needs:

#1: Walking Route Volunteers
Walking routes begin between 9:00am and 10:30am and generally last 4 to 5 hours. Volunteers should be prepared for availability from 9am to 3pm. Volunteers usually follow in their car (wagon/carts are helpful) but may stop often to assist postal worker with the donated food. The volunteer will transport food to one of the postal substations. Some postal carriers may prefer the volunteer to walk the route with them and help place food in the postal truck. Lifting of small bags of food required.
