Human rights artist William Cordova to visit Hixson-Lied College on Sept. 6

Cordova
Cordova

William Cordova's artwork frequently references human rights struggles. In recent years, Cordova has been documenting former spaces of the Black Panther Party chapter locations. William was born in Lima, Peru, and moved to Miami, Florida, at an early age. He graduated with a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and later earned an MFA from Yale University. His practice is focused on reconciling ideas of displacement and transition through ephemeral residue and vernacular architecture that continually shifts, shaping what could be described as our contemporary situation. He sees vernacular architecture as a symbol of necessity and resilience and a form of invoking a presence. Free and open to the public.
Additional Public Info: Parking is available in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage, caddy corner to Richards Hall, on the corner of Stadium Drive and T Street.
