The CSE Learning Community is a group of freshmen that live together in University Suites, take a couple of the same classes, and attend events. Last week, the group traveled to Chicago with the other UNL Learning Communities to explore their respective majors and job opportunities in the city.

Students had wonderful tours of Signal and UI Labs. Signal is a startup in downtown Chicago. They are a global leader in cross-channel marketing technology. Thousands of brands and digital agencies around the world rely on Signal’s patented technology to transform data into insights and engage with customers across the web, mobile devices and beyond – all in real time.

Students found it helpful to hear from professionals who were in their shoes a few short years ago.

They also toured UI Labs which brings together Universities and Industries, along with National Labs, Civic and Government partners, to solve complex challenges no one sector or player could address on their own.

In addition to spending a day exploring opportunities in their majors, the students went to a comedy show at The Second City, spent time at Navy Pier, enjoyed the view of Chicago from the top of the Hancock Tower, went on a walking tour of the city, and toured the Museum of Science and Industry.

Thank you to the students that went on the trip and another thank you to those who met with us.
