The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a multi-tier, team-based, programming competition operating under the auspices of ACM and headquartered at Baylor University. The contest involves a global network of universities hosting regional competitions that advance teams to the ACM-ICPC World Finals.

The Contest consists of eight to ten problems to solve within five hours in a team of three- not including the single computer running C, C++, and/or Java.

"The contests themselves are great fun, and a wonderful way to test your skills," said Jeff Ifland, assistant coach.

The UNL CSE department proudly holds an impressive ACM track record. We have produced winning teams in eight of the past 13 competitions who have advanced to the International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals. Teams have competed in the Netherlands, Vancouver, Waikiki Beach, San Antonio, Shanghai, Tokyo, Stockholm, and China! This year's World Finals will be held in Warsaw, Poland.

The Local Contest at UNL is scheduled for Sunday, October 9th. The top teams will advance to the Regional Contest, scheduled for Saturday, November 12th.

Nearly 20 students participated in the first practice on Monday. Most teams are still seeking a third and final team member! The next practice will be held on Monday, October 3rd at 6:30 p.m. in Avery Hall, Room 21.

There is plenty of room for more teams! Contact either Jeff Ifland, assistant coach (jifland@cse.unl.edu) or Prof. Riedesel, head coach (riedesel@cse.unl.edu) to sign up!
