Computer Science and Engineering students Tyler Barker and Libby Gentry were named to “Franco’s List” at an awards ceremony on April 21. Gentry was also a semifinalist for Outstanding Student Leader. The CSE Ambassadors were also honored with a Spirit of Service Student Group award.

Franco’s List, named after Juan Franco, vice chancellor for student affairs, recognizes about 30 University of Nebraska–Lincoln students every semester who have demonstrated exceptional citizenship in their college careers. Barker is a member of the CSE Ambassadors while Libby Gentry is heavily involved in Computing for All.

Franco's List students are selected for their commitment to living in accordance with the six “Show Your Red” building blocks of integrity: citizenship, dependability, commitment, respect, open-mindedness and care. All of the recipients were nominated by a university community member and selected by the Character Council.

The Student Organization Award is given to a Recognized Student Organization who has connected with Lincoln’s community to provide services to organizations in need. The CSE Ambassadors have excelled in the area of service and has grown as a group and as individuals because of their work. The group has also encouraged other RSO’s and students to engage in service and civic participation. This group offered specialized and trained students in a specific discipline to fit the specific needs of a community partner.

Congratulations to Tyler, Libby and the CSE Ambassadors! We thank them for their exceptional efforts and contributions to our department and the community.
