TEAMS second-round deadline is Oct. 10

The Center for Science, Mathematics and Computer Education is looking for teacher leaders through UNL’s new grant with the NDE, Nebraska Partnership TEAMS. Teacher leaders are those who have leadership capacity and interest in participating in a project that will provide statewide professional development to math and science teachers at both the elementary and secondary levels.

The priority deadline is today (Monday, Oct. 3), but applications submitted by Oct. 10 will be considered in a second-round review.

Teacher leaders will be paid $15 per hour for any hours they work on the planning of the PD, and their travel and lodging costs will be covered. See the website for more details. During the summer (during delivery of the PD), they will be paid $500 per day of teaching the PD.

The dates of the planning meetings and the PD will be set entirely by the team of teacher leaders for their region (after the initial meeting with TEAMS coordinators at UNL*). Their team will pick the dates the work best for the group and for the districts their region serves.

The PD sessions focus on these three topics, and the teachers can select which one they want to lead in their application:
• elementary-integrated STEM,
• secondary mathematics, or
• secondary Earth and space science.

*Please note that the one full-day meeting with TEAMS coordinators will convene on Dec. 3 or Dec. 10 (whichever date works best for most) on the UNL campus, if they are selected as a teacher leader. They do not have to attend this meeting in-person, although lodging will be available the night before; they can also join us via video conferencing.
