NCTM has announced a new publication, "Access and Equity: Promoting High-Quality Mathematics in Pre-K-Grade 2." This book, the first in the Access and Equity: Promoting High-Quality Mathematics series, offers strategies and tools to help teachers in prekindergarten through grade 2 classrooms implement the Access and Equity Principle from NCTM's Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All. It looks at diversity (culture, race, ethnicity, home languages, economic status, disability) as an asset for teaching and learning mathematics with emphases on multilingual settings and the need for deeper mathematics among younger children.
