In case you missed the first, the Dairy Store renews a Lincoln tradition again Friday with its second P.O. Pears cookout of 2012.
Dairy Store staff will grill signature burgers from the now defunct but popular downtown Lincoln establishment just outside the Food Industry Complex on UNL’s East Campus. Burgers come complete with all the fixings and the Dairy Store’s old-fashioned, hand-dipped ice cream will be ready to scoop.
Half-pound burgers come with your choice of Dairy Store cheese for $6.99, which includes a trip through the buffet line serving potato chips, baked beans, macaroni salad, pickle spears and burger condiments.
Signature burgers, which include the bacon burger, the popular Jiffy burger with peanut butter or the rhythm and blues burger, are $7.49 and recommended by former P.O. Pears and current Dairy Store manager Bryan Scherbarth.
“They’re pretty much a big pile of awesomeness,” he said.
Individuals are encouraged to stop in as early at 8 a.m. to pre-purchase lunch and avoid the crowd. A receipt from the cookout is valid for $1 off admission to the International Quilt Study Center and Museum any time between Friday and Sunday.
