Francki to discuss wheat pre-breeding Aug. 16

Michael Francki will speak on: "The wheat pre-breeding innovation pipeline at DAFWA: Delivering research products for trait improvement in commercial breeding" on Aug. 16 in 150 Keim Hall, 2:30 p.m.

Francki will present an overview of the innovation pipeline in his program and delivery of research products adopted and utilized by commercial wheat breeding companies. The presentation will focus on flour b* color, an important grain quality trait in breeding for specific wheat end-products, including product discovery to select gene and allele combinations for specific phenotypes, proof-of-concept and technology transfer strategies for uptake and utilization of research products in commercial wheat breeding.

Francki is an adjunct professor with the UNL Department of Agronomy and Horticulture and also a professor at the Division of Science and Engineering at Murdoch University in Western Australia.
