Duties:
This position serves as the Montana Office of Tourism’s (MTOT) Social Media Coordinator and is responsible for conceptualizing, developing and administering promotional content for the social media channels; researching and recommending emerging technologies and online marketing activities that integrate MTOT’s marketing objectives with concepts that offer a high level of consumer engagement and marketing results. The position is responsible for developing innovative and interactive social media strategies based on upcoming consumer marketing campaigns; research and evaluate new interactive methods and technologies to determine the relative value and viability for MTOT marketing campaigns. This position, with the cooperation of Consumer Marketing, will analyze interactive marketing campaigns, track key performance indicators to evaluate the ROI and effectiveness of individual social campaigns.

This position works with the Consumer Marketing Manager and the advertising agencies serving as a liaison between social media and the marketing team.

• Working knowledge and real-world experience in planning, managing and executing social media initiatives
• Knowledge of planning social media programs that span owned (eg Blogs), earned (eg Facebook) and paid (sponsored tweets)
• Knowledge of social media legal guidelines, including, but not limited to WOMMA and “pay-per-post”
• Knowledge of Strategic planning and processes for brand management and creative development, including research tools and evaluation of results
• Knowledge of online marketing and SEO (search engine optimization).
• Ability to think creatively, problem-solve, and develop a long term vision. The position requires an exceptionally organized self-starter who can work independently, execute quickly and move to the next task.
• Technical troubleshooting, written and verbal communications (including public, technical, consumer, and professional communications), managing multiple projects under inflexible deadlines, and promoting a positive image of Montana to customers and associates.
• Experience with social media platforms, including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr
• Experience writing, editing and crafting content for the social media space

Education/Experience:
The required educational qualifications are typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field and 2 years of job related experience in marketing, communications or social media. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
