Position title: Media Producer
Position description: The media producer is responsible for audio and video
content for the Great Plains webpage, training and presentations videos.
Typical content includes feature stories, educational material and
presentations including worship services. Skills for this position must
include the ability to write news as well as scripts. Must have some
familiarity with social media and other online delivery systems for media,
especially webcasts and streaming. Must be able to collaborate and integrate
with other communications team members. This is a full-time, exempt position.

• A degree from an accredited post-secondary educational institution or
commensurate experience
• Familiarity with the organization of the UMC and its polity
• Willingness to travel

• Safe Gatherings certified (boundaries/child protection program of the
conference)

• Must hold a drivers license

Duties and Responsibilities
• Act as the primary producer of audio and video content.
o Work with communications director to identify projects and programs to
support with video content.
o Provide video production support for educational programs as assigned
o Collaborate across departmental lines as needed to produce the best
possible content to support our missional priorities.
o Know how to use Photoshop, Final Cut Pro and other video editing software
as needed.
• Provide innovative consultation on the best uses of audio and video
content
o Expertise on best modes of video delivery
o Expertise on the best modes of audio delivery (podcasts, etc.)
o Experience in multi-versioning material for different delivery platforms
o Will be the primary producer for webcasts/streaming events emanating from
the Lincoln location
o Will learn, understand and help use the videoconferencing system
• Collaborate with the communications team
o Willingness to cover and write news stories for web and print
o Ability to take still photos as needed
o Collaborate on proofing and quality assurance


• Media support
o Ability to create video graphics
o Act as the primary liaison for video production once projects are initiated
o Primary responsibility for learning, training, maintaining and running the
Tricaster units (video production suite in a box)
o Ability to produce multi-camera productions for meeting, worship and
educational purposes
• Event set-up and support
o Collaborate with staff in the production preparation for conference and
educational sessions
o Help ensure requests for services are given excellent customer service
• Provide support for staff
o Work effectively with peer staff
o Willingness to fill in when necessary for taking photos, notes on meetings
and event, etc.
o Understand web content manager and contribute as assigned (as it pertains
to audio and video content)
o Cover events and/or travel to locations to cover stories of United
Methodist ministries in the Great Plains as needed
• Quality assurance
o Edit work to ensure that they conform to a high standard of grammar and
presentation
o Collaborate with other communications areas to ensure brand standards,
grammar and style guidelines are maintained
