Meteorologist/Weather Producer for The Nebraska Weather Network

He/She will have opportunities to put together and present on-air weather forecasts for multiple TV newscasts. He/she will also be expected to push the envelope in developing compelling visuals and presentations for weather. He/she will work with our main meteorologists to decide on the best way to tell the “weather story of the day.” This would include coordinating with news on when a meteorologist should be live in the field, when video is needed, when we need other elements other than weather graphics. During severe weather coverage, he/she would help with coordinating news/weather coverage and web elements. The weather producer would also work in creating special 30-minute weather specials.

This position requires a high level of creativity and communication. High flexibility is needed as he/she will work different shifts as needed. He/she must have a background in meteorology with a passion for cutting-edge presentation. Professional experience on-air as a meteorologist is also required. The select candidate must also have the ability to report and to forecast weather accurately and creatively under deadline pressure. Severe Weather coverage experience is a plus along with knowledge of newscast production. The select candidate must maintain a permanent residence within 30 minutes of Lincoln.
