Neighborhood Outreach Intern, Neighborhood Network

In support of the Council Bluffs area, Neighborhood Network program, the Neighborhood Outreach Intern will assist in coordinating and implementing several projects of interest in the KanesviIIe-TinIey neighborhood (KTNA). These projects are designed to build and strengthen resident involvement in this neighborhood as well as utilize remaining funds from the Kanesville-Tinley Neighborhood Initiative (KTNI) phase ll.

Promotes active participation in projects as well as promoting through various forms of media.

Reports to Neighborhood Network staff.

Neighborhood Outreach Intern will:

Assist residents in developing and sustaining processes to identify and express issues that they feel are important

1. Newsstands

2. Sidewalk repair and replacement

3. Neighborhood signs/banners

4. Lighting

5. Bus Stop signage

Challenge/engage residents to act on behalf of their common interests through one-on-one and other communication strategies

Expand resident connections to each other and additional resources to accomplish their goals

Actively recruit, support and empower unengaged residents, and community representatives to enthusiastically participate and address issues Develop a timeline for implementation and completion of projects

Work closely with Neighborhood Network staff and existing neighborhood leaders in all aspects of projects being developed and implemented

Become familiar with and assist in further implementing Success Measures, research and evaluation tactics; manage systems to share information across organizations about outreach work

Familiarity with social networking and use of social media is desired

Create flexible model that may be utilized in other neighborhoods

Requirements:

Major/Minor in adult education, social work, psychology, sociology or related field Has previous volunteer experience in community outreach/involvement

Excellent organizational skills and ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and various outlets of social media

Weekend and evening work required

Reliable transportation necessary
