Communications Student Workers, Vision Maker Media

Vision Maker Media has part-time (up to 20 hours per week) positions for full-time enrolled UNL college students. Position reports to the Assistant Director.

Duties:
Based on your skill set, work with staff in various duties, such as multimedia journalism, graphic design, social media and website posting, analytics management, Native American research or general office duties.

Skills Required:
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Other software knowledge could include InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Tableau or other dashboard software, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Preference given to Journalism students with knowledge of editing software and interviewing skills. Proficient at photography and knowledge of transcoding.

Students will work on some of the following projects:
- Create social media campaigns, schedule and post
- Create branded photos for posting to social media
- Create short videos for posting to YouTube or other social media
- Edit videos for a variety of uses
- Produce educational materials using established templates
- Research information for targeted mailings for marketing and/or fundraising

About Vision Maker Media
Vision Maker Media exists to serve Native producers and Indian country in partnership with public television and radio. Vision Maker Media works with Native producers to develop, produce and distribute educational telecommunications programs for all media including public television and public radio. Vision Maker Media supports training to increase the number of American Indians and Alaska Natives producing quality public broadcasting programs, which includes advocacy efforts promoting increased control and use of information technologies and the policies to support this control by American Indians and Alaska Natives.

A key strategy for this work is the development of strong partnerships with Tribal nations, Indian organizations and Native communities. Reaching the general public and the global market is the ultimate goal for the dissemination of Native produced media that shares Native perspectives with the world.

Qualified applicants:
Will have strong written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and efficient and meet assigned deadlines.
