Assignment Editor, WOWT

WOWT is accepting applications for a full-time Assignment Editor

The Assignment Editor’s primary responsibility is to plan and coordinate daily news coverage. Beyond that this person is responsible for planning and coordinating coverage on special projects and to participate in and help carry out strategic news planning.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

-Reports directly to News Director of WOWT.
-Plan and coordinate daily news coverage.
-Participation in strategic news planning.
-Long range planning for special events coverage, sweeps and in-depth stories.
-Work with reporters to enhance “beat” system.
-Maintain weekly newsroom schedule and court calendar.
-Regular, consistent attendance a must.
-Strong Management skills.
-Strong people skills and the ability to communicate with other people are necessary.
-A passion for local news
-Strong problem solving skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks at the same time are required
-Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or related field.
-Valid Driver’s license, and good driving record (will be reviewed)
-Prior experience as an assignment editor, reporter, photographer, producer or anchor/reporter.
-This is a high stress level position because of the nature of the job and the amount of information that must be processed through this individual
-Other Duties as Assigned
