Communications Intern (paid), UNL The International Quilt Study Center & Museum

The International Quilt Study Center & Museum is looking for a Communications Intern to promote the museum’s mission, exhibitions and events during the 2017-2018 academic year. We are looking for a driven and creative University of Nebraska-Lincoln student who excels at telling stories through social media, written and visual modes. The Communication Intern will work with the Communications Coordinator to:

-Create engaging content for the museum’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube) to promote the collection, exhibitions, events and research
-Develop social media campaigns that support the museum’s mission
-Monitor social channels for feedback and growth opportunities
-Design and distribute signage and graphics to promote upcoming exhibitions and events
-Assist in creation and general distribution of press releases and community calendar updates
-Provide support to our team at live and online events
-Write and format content for publications, such as e-newsletters

The ideal candidate will have:

-Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop)
-Previous experience in social media/marketing/content creation
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Ability to multi-task and take initiative
-In-depth knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube
-Enrollment at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in communications, journalism, marketing or merchandising

This paid internship is $10/hour for up to 15 hours per week during the academic year. Schedule is flexible as arranged with the Communications Coordinator.
