KOLN-TV, the strong market leader in the Lincoln/Hastings/Grand Island market, is looking for a Morning Reporter to join the area’s #1 morning show. You’ll be our morning eyes and ears on Lincoln, frequently going live and showing our viewers what’s breaking or developing overnight.
We’re looking for someone with live reporting experience, who knows how to make contacts, follow stories, track developments, and present those stories in a compelling, easy-to-understand way.
You’ll need to be comfortable shooting and editing your own stories, and setting up and executing your own live shots
This job takes planning and preparation, as your day will begin in the very early morning hours, and you need to have a story planned.
But it also takes flexibility, as news that breaks overnight will always take priority.
The right candidate will be a proven leader in the newsroom. We need someone who’s a positive influence for those around them, and thrives in a competitive, but fun environment.
Connection with the viewers of Nebraska is key. You’ll need to be involved and visible at station and community projects, and active on social media.
A Degree in Broadcasting or Journalism is preferred.
Familiarity with iNews, Sony ENG, Avid, TVU, and Clickability a plus.
Must have valid Drivers License with good driving record. Employment is contingent on successfully passing drug screen and driving record check.
