County Extension offices encouraged to complete emergency action plans

Office Emergency Action Plan
Office Emergency Action Plan

Nebraska Extension and UNL’s Office of Emergency Preparedness and Planning are teaming up to ensure county Extension offices have plans in place for disasters and emergencies. The office emergency action plan template for county offices is now available: https://unl.box.com/s/tbjqc56uh20inaaja0u7qn1rl8xealb4

All counties are encouraged to put together a local plan. The effort may be coordinated by the unit leader or an assigned individual. Everyone in the office should be invited to provide input and become familiar with the plan. The time to complete a plan will vary depending on the office, but it is anticipated that 1-2 hours is sufficient. Putting together the plan’s attachments, like an office drawing or map, may require more time.

To be included in recognition during Nebraska’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, county office emergency action plans should be completed by Friday, March 23 by sending plans and attachments to Ashley Mueller, ashley.mueller@unl.edu. Counties offices that already have a plan as requested by their local emergency manager or others can send the current plan; a new plan is not required. Note: Plans will be accepted after March 23.

Counties that complete the office emergency action plan will receive an image/graphic to post on their website sidebars, in newsletters, and on social media platforms. The design will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
