Omaha Fashion Week kicked off with Student Night on Feb. 27 at the Omaha Design Center in downtown Omaha. The runway show included collections from top 4-H members from across the state, FCCLA, Joslyn’s Kent Bellows Mentoring Program, Omaha’s Central High School and South High School. 4-H members who exhibited their garments at the 2017 Nebraska State Fair qualified to apply to be part of the 4-H collection. In order for consideration, garments had to be fashion forward, runway appropriate and displayed high quality construction.

Two Lancaster County 4-H members were selected to model their sewn dresses during the High School Student Night Show. Kali Burnham hit the runway in her stylish charcoal gray knit knee-length dress topped with a sassy large brimmed hat. Ellie Babcock graced the stage with her elegant silver and pink brocade prom gown.

The following night, during the UNL Showcase, Lancaster County 4-H’er Emily Pillard featured her original collection of 10 models in party and prom wear under her label of Em’s Trends. Emily is a UNL freshman Fashion Design student. Emily has also showcased her collection at other regional Fashion Weeks in Des Moines and Kansas City this year.
