Dean's Message

You may have already anticipated how much things pick up in March around Law College as we careen toward spring break and then the end of the semester. This Friday, March 9th is the Women's Law Caucus Auction at the Grand Manse. This is always one of the highlights of the year with great auction items, entertaining auctioneers, and a casual environment for our community to come together for a good cause, including our Nebraska Fund for Clerkships in the Public Interest, which helps to fund summer clerkships at non profits for your fellow students.

Another highlight in March is the Lane Lecture by Stanford Law Professor Pamela Karlan on March 14th at Noon in the Hamann Auditorium. Professor Karlan is a renowned Constitutional Law scholar whose talk is entitled "Keeping Faith with the Constitution." I strongly encourage you to attend this lecture, it is a rare treat to hear Professor Karlan.

On the curriculum front, I am very happy to report that we have hired a faculty member who will be the inaugural director of the new Entrepreneurship Clinic at the law college. Professor Brett Stohs will begin at the Law College this Wednesday, March 7th and will temporarily have his office in the civil clinic. Over the next 10 months, Professor Stohs will prepare to launch the clinic, which we hope to have open for a small enrollment in January 2013. Students in this clinic will get experience advising entrepreneurs about legal issues involving their start-up businesses. Please feel free to drop in and welcome Professor Stohs.
