Highlighted by the UNL Opera production of Massenet’s Cendrillon (Cinderella) and two concerts in the Hixson-Lied Concert Series of the Chiara String Quartet, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music is excited to announce its Spring 2014 season.

Nearly 50 different performances will take place over the five-month period beginning in late January, including the University Faculty Brass Quintet’s performance on March 17 at 7:30 p.m., where they plan to premiere NeBRASSka by Bruce Broughton.

"Please come hear and see for yourself,” said UNL Glenn Korff School of Music Director Dr. John W. Richmond. “Learn why our faculty and students are garnering so many national and international accolades. Don’t confuse local with ordinary and distant with excellent. Our faculty and students create, perform, and achieve splendidly every day.”

The Chiara String Quartet, Hixson-Lied Artists-in-Residence at the UNL School of Music, will present concerts in Kimball Recital Hall -- the first on February 4 at 7:30 p.m. and the second on March 20 at 7:30 p.m. The spring concerts are part of the yearlong, four-concert Hixson-Lied Concert Series.

The Spring Opera, Massenet’s Cendrillon (Cinderella), will take place February 21 and 23 in Kimball Recital Hall. A pre-performance talk will take place in the lower level of Kimball Recital Hall 45 minutes before each performance.
