Evenings of Dance, an annual concert of modern dance works by faculty, guest artists and selected students of the UNL dance program in the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will take place April 21-24 at the Lied Center’s Johnny Carson Theatre located at 11th and Q streets on the UNL campus.

“Sometimes in life, and dance, we have lots to say and sometimes it includes lots of people,” said Susan Levine Ourada, Associate Professor of Dance and Director of Dance Studies. “This year’s dance concert is chock full of people and ideas. Our visiting guest artists Nhan Ho, Laurel Jenkins, Erik Kaiel, and Nichol Mason Lazenby invigorated our lives with their visions of dance from far and wide. We were happy to welcome a new face in dance to the area, Amanda Haskin Broulik. We are also so thrilled that Dr. Hye-Won Hwang has joined our faculty as Assistant Professor of Practice in dance theory and performance.

“And we are so delighted to welcome back for the second time Paul Besaw and dancers from the University of Vermont. This collaboration between UNL and UVM challenges a long-held tradition that University dance programs are in competition with one another. Instead, we love how it allows our students to grow and develop through their shared love for dance, the influence of other teachers and students and the excitement of travel and performing to totally new audiences.”

Fourteen different dances will take place including an amazing collaboration between dance and members of the Clarinet Studio at the Glenn Korff School of Music. Also, a piece choreographed by Susan Levine Ourada will be performed for the first time by students after its original premiere in 2007 by UNL Glenn Korff School of Music faculty Susan Levine Ourada, Mark Clinton and Diane Barger.

The performances on April 21, 22 and 23 will all begin at 7:30 p.m. The performance on April 24 will start at 3 p.m.

Tickets are General Admission $12; Faculty/Staff $10; Students/Seniors $7 and will be available approx. one hour prior to performance at the door. The performance on April 23 will be live webcast. Visit music.unl.edu the night of the performance.
