UNL Symphonic Band to present ‘Exotic Destinations’

Join the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Symphonic Band, conducted by Tony Falcone, for its season finale program entitled, ‘Exotic Destinations’ on Thursday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

You will travel from the Aegean Sea to Bali to the Alamo Gardens of San Antonio; from turn-of the-century Morocco to Shakespeare’s Forest of Arden to a dramatic conclusion at Machu Picchu high in the Peruvian Andes. You’ll hear works by Andreas Makris, Michael Colgrass, Frank Ticheli, Jerry Goldsmith, Alfred Reed and Satoshi Yagisawa.

The Symphonic Band, directed by Anthony Falcone, has the distinction of being the band program’s top symphonic ensemble. Its select mission is to provide instrumentalists with an opportunity to demonstrate and develop the techniques and musical instincts appropriate to a symphonic setting.
