UNL junior Mindy Schreiber has been awarded a Big Ten Network LiveBIG Scholarship for Outstanding Service. The award was presented during halftime of the Feb. 29 Husker men's basketball game at Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The $1,000 scholarship is part of the network’s original series, BTN LiveBIG, which celebrates Big Ten students and alumni who exemplify what it means to “live big” through service to others.

One student from each of the Big Ten universities was awarded the scholarship. Finalists from each university were announced in January. Online voting decided the winner.

In her essay, Schreiber described her involvement as a TeamMates program mentor as making a "significant impact" on her life. She has spent more than 600 hours as a mentor in the last five years.
