UNL Open Access Week, Oct. 24-26

UNL Libraries and students celebrate Open Access Week 2011 with a series of informational events and action. Beginning Oct. 24, volunteers from the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and ASUN will be hosting an information booth in the Nebraska Union to talk about Open Access to research and what it means to education.

Additional events include a viewing party event for a live webcast of presentations, a film screening and discussion of the documentary, RIP: A Remix Manifesto, and a roundtable discussion open to faculty and students. Live Webcast Viewing Party - “The State of Open Access and the Student Role in Creating Change.” –
Speakers:
Heather Joseph serves as the Executive Director of the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC), an international coalition of over 800 libraries working to enable a more open system of scholarly communication. Goldis Chami is a medical student at the University of British Columbia and a member of the Right to Research Coalition Steering Committee.
