Volunteers needed for International Affairs VITA Site

International Affairs is recruiting volunteers for the IRS non-resident VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program for the Spring 2012 semester. The program offers free tax preparation assistance to UNL international students and scholars every Tuesday afternoon from February 28 through April 10, 2012. To volunteer, you do not have to be at every session or an entire session; you can sign up according to your availability at our training. Anyone can volunteer; you do not need expertise in math or accounting. Each volunteer will need to be certified and will receive an official IRS VITA Certificate. (Even if you were certified in the past, you have to be certified again for this year).

All volunteers are required to attend the full 3-hour training in the City Campus Union, Georgian Suite, on Friday, Feb. 3, from 2 to 5pm.

Tax assistance sessions are scheduled as follows:

February 28, March 6 and 13, 2012 1:00 – 7:00pm Georgian Suite, City Union
March 20, 2012 1:00 – 5:00pm Colonial Room, City Union
March 27, April 3 and 10, 2012 1:00 – 7:00pm Colonial Room, City Union
