Student insurance enrollment now open

If your student needs health insurance coverage in the new year, consider UnitedHealthcare StudentResources, the student insurance option for Huskers available through the University of Nebraska.

Enrollment for spring/summer coverage (Jan. 1 through July 31) is now open and closes Feb. 4 at midnight. If your student enrolled last semester and plans to continue their coverage in the new year, he or she must re-enroll.

This medical, mental health, prescription and dental plan offers many benefits:

  • 100 percent coverage of most medically necessary services at Nebraska Medicine – University Health Center
  • $500 deductible per year (in network)
  • Prescription copays as low as $5
  • $1,000 dental coverage
  • Plan pays 80 percent for medical services in network
  • Can be used anywhere nationwide wherever UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus is accepted

To enroll, your student should:
  1. Log into MyRed
  2. Select the Profile tab
  3. Choose Health insurance

Want to learn more before your student enrolls? Encourage your student to come to Student Insurance 101, an informal event at the University Health Center with free pizza and an opportunity to get their questions answered:
  • Tuesday, Jan. 16, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 17, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Lower level of the University Health Center; no RSVP required
