For those of you ready to pursue your master’s degree, the MA degree from TLTE has more of a research focus than does the M.Ed. degree, but is a popular option and degree for elementary teachers. Because of Primarily Math, you will mostly choose to pursue the MA’s Option II, which requires a minor so that you can minor in mathematics.

It is preferred that at least seven courses (21 hours) of the 12 total courses (36 hours) count toward your major in teaching, learning and teacher education. If you choose to minor in mathematics (the recommended route), then any MATH courses that end in “P” would count toward a minor in math.

A sample memorandum of courses would be:
TEAC 800 (required, online)
TEAC 801 (required, online)
TEAC 889 (required, master’s seminar)
TEAC 808A (part of Primarily Math)
TEAC 808J (part of Primarily Math)
TEAC 907 (part of Primarily Math)
Two TEAC electives (such as TEAC 890 or TEAC 836B)
Math 800P (part of Primarily Math)
Math 801P (part of Primarily Math)
Math 802P (part of Primarily Math)
One MATH elective (Math 803P or 804P)

As you can see, Primarily Math gets you halfway to earning your master’s degree (18 of 36 hours)!

The MA degree has firm deadlines: October 1 for Spring Term Admission and March 1 for Summer AND Fall Term Admission. It is desirable that applicants for TLTE degree programs satisfy all admission requirements one month before the department deadline to ensure timely arrival of the corresponding documentation. The Department's Admissions Committee cannot consider your file until these items have been received. To read about the application process see: http://cehs.unl.edu/tlte/graduate/masters/MastersProcess.shtml

For all graduate degrees, you must be admitted to the degree program and have filed a Memorandum of Courses prior to completing 18 hours toward your degree.
