Each year, the Women’s Center, in collaboration with many different student organizations, academic and administrative departments, and community groups, hosts and organizes Women’s Week, a week-long series of events in March to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. We celebrate the contributions women have made to our community and the world while raising awareness about the struggles women still face. The theme for Women’s Week 2014 is “Women of Character, Courage, and Commitment”. Spots and food for the Leadership Luncheons are available free of charge for all students, staff, and faculty members. Performance artist and activist Peterson Toscano performs scenes from his one-person plays including his comedy about his time in an ex-gay program, “Doin’ Time in the Homo No Mo Halfway House,” and “Transfigurations—Transgressing Gender in the Bible.”

The panel will feature Brigadier General Wilma L. Vaught, USAF, Retired, and President of the Board of Directors of the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Foundation, Inc. as well as three local women military service members and veterans with combat experience.
