UNL Political Forum to Discuss Sustainability with Nebraska Government Officials

Lincoln, NE - The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will hold a political forum to discuss practices and policies that affect Nebraska. This event, named “Policy for the Plains: A Discussion about Sustainability with Nebraska Government Officials” is hosted by UNL’s Environmental Leadership Program, a student-run government group that promotes sustainability on campus.

The forum will be moderated and topics to be addressed at the forum include: fracking, University policies, wind energy, irrigation, the Ogallala Aquifer, agricultural erosion, environmental legislation, Power Lincoln Locally, etc. Panelists include Senator Rick Kolowski, Senator Ken Haar, Deputy Director of Nebraska Game and Parks, Tim McCoy, and the campaign manager for David Domina, Graham Christensen.

The event is free to students and the general public. All are welcome to attend. The Forum will begin at 6:00 pm in the Union Auditorium. Refreshments will be provided following the discussion in the Nebraska Union Heritage Room from 7:30 to 8:00 pm.

Policy for the Plains is a part of the month-long celebration of sustainability, Earthstock. Earthstock is an event and movement modeled after the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival to engage UNL students and build an understanding in our community about the urgency and feasibility of sustainability.
