Nominations sought for service to students, advising awards

Nominees are being sought for the James V. Griesen Exemplary Service to Students Award and the University of Nebraska/Builders Award for Outstanding Academic Advising. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 13. Recipients will be honored at Honors Convocation on April 22.

"Many persons within the UNL community are deserving of this recognition, but they will only be considered if members of the academic community nominate them," said chancellor Harvey Perlman. "Please make a special effort to share this information with others and encourage your colleagues to submit nominations."

• The Griesen Award was established in 1986 as the Chancellor's Exemplary Service to Students award. It was renamed in 2006 to honor James Griesen's service to students. The award recognizes extraordinary and sustained performance by individuals serving UNL students.

• The NU Foundation/Builders Award, established in 1987, recognizes faculty or advising staff who have demonstrated outstanding advising ability and have made a considerable contribution to the educational enrichment of UNL students.

All UNL faculty and staff are eligible for these awards. Each award includes a $1,500 stipend.

Nominations can be made by any UNL student, faculty member, staff member or administrator.

Guidelines for the nomination/selection process and nomination forms for the awards are available online at http://stuafs.unl.edu.
