In Brief: Fellowship award, Coffee talk, Postdoc honored

■ Nguy-Robertson awarded Farmer's Fellowship

Anthony Nguy-Robertson a graduate student in Natural Resource Sciences at the School of Natural Resources will be awarded the Farmers National Company Fellowship at the Graduate Fellowship Luncheon next week in the Great Plains Room at the Nebraska East Union. His adviser is Anatoly Gitelson.

The Farmers National Fellowship was established in 1979 to support graduate students in the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. «««


■ Coffee with the Director

Tala Awada, Interim Director of the School of Natural Resources, implemented a new tradition recently, "Informal Coffee with the SNR Director."

Every Friday, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., faculty and staff are invited to take a break and join Awada for an informal meeting in room 102, the new conference area just off the Hardin Hall lobby. Interim Associate Director Larkin Powell, is also expected to attend, or will sit in for Awada on the occasions she has a scheduling conflict.

"I invite you to take a break, bring your coffee or other beverage and come join me and/or Larkin for some casual time just to sit and visit with others, even for few minutes," Awada said in a recent email. «««


■ Chizinski is 'Outstanding Postdoc'

Fishery scientist Christopher Chizinski, a post-doctoral research associate at the School of Natural Resources, will be honored next week with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's 2012 Outstanding Postdoc Award during the Postdoc/PI Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Chizinski is the program coordinator for the angler survey program in the Nebraska Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. He completed his doctorate in 2007 at Texas Tech University and has done previous post-doctoral work at the University of Minnesota.

The Outstanding Postdoc Award honors "exceptional comprehensive achievement in research, teaching, mentoring, innovation, and service." «««
