Presenters sought for community capitals framework event

Abstracts and registrations are being accepted for the 2014 Community Capitals Framework Institute. The event, Nov. 5-7 at UNL, will focus on issues related to water management, drought planning, and evaluation of rural and community development.

Keynote speakers are Cornelia and Jan Flora, professors emeritus at Iowa State University. The Floras, co-creators of the community capitals framework, are actively involved in global community issues related to climate change.

Organizers of the Institute are the Heartland Center for Leadership Development, the National Drought Mitigation Center at UNL and the National Integrated Drought Information System.

Individuals who would like to present experiences for discussion must submit an abstract of 250 words or less, describing a case study or application of the community capitals approach to development. Abstracts are due by Sept. 5. Submit an abstract to Kurt Mantonya at kmantonya@heartlandcenter.info.

The institute starts at 1 p.m. Nov. 5 and ends at noon Nov. 7. The registration fee is $150 ($75 for students) and includes activities, materials, a networking reception, breaks and lunch on Nov. 6. Registration is available at http://go.unl.edu/ccfregistration.
