Barbara Boustead received an honorable mention for the Lowe R. and Mavis M. Folsom Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award.

Boustead, who earned her doctorate in natural resource sciences with a specialization in climate assessment and impact in August 2014, was presented with the honor on Feb. 5.

Her dissertation was titled, "The Hard Winter of 1880-1881: Climatological Context and Communication via a Laura Ingalls Wilder Narrative."

"The award recipients produced high-quality work, and I am proud to be included among them, while representing the School of Natural Resources and its diversity of disciplines," Boustead said. "I'd like to thank my advisors, Martha Shulski and Ken Hubbard, as well as my advisory committee for their guidance and encouragement throughout my entire Ph.D. program and dissertation process."
