University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds invites members of the university community, external stakeholders and all Nebraskans to share their thoughts on the search for the next chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

A survey regarding the search is available on the NU website at http://go.unl.edu/tdb5. The survey invites interested stakeholders to share what they hope the next UNL chancellor will accomplish; how they would know in the next three to five years that the right person was hired; what they feel are the key issues, challenges and opportunities facing UNL; and what experiences, skills and personal attributes they feel the next chancellor should have.

The input will be provided to Isaacson, Miller, the professional firm assisting Bounds with the search, and will inform the development of a job description and candidate profile.

"This is a critical search for the university and public feedback will play an important role in the process," Bounds said. "I am hoping to hear from as many stakeholders as possible about the qualities and characteristics they think the next UNL chancellor should have and what kinds of opportunities and challenges that person will face. Public input will be incredibly valuable in helping us find the right person to build on UNL's impressive momentum."

Chancellor Harvey Perlman has announced his plans to step down in 2016 after leading UNL through an era of significant growth and progress.

Bounds announced the selection of Isaacson, Miller last month. The firm will work with a search advisory committee, yet to be named by Bounds, to identify, recruit and screen potential candidates prior to the identification of no fewer than four finalists who will participate in public forums and university visits that will provide opportunities for faculty, students, key constituents and members of the public to meet the individuals and offer feedback.

The appointment of the next chancellor will be made by the president, subject to approval by the Board of Regents.
