The UNL Combined Campaign is going green.

The annual fund raising campaign for the Lincoln-area Combined Campaign for Health and Human Services is Nov. 1-19. The theme is "Making the World a Better Place... One Life at a Time."

To help reduce costs and make the campaign more environmentally friendly, UNL employees will be able to make pledges electronically this year. Pledge packets will not be delivered to individual employees.

Volunteers will be available in each campus department, serving as a resource of information and to help conduct the campaign. To make a pledge or for additional information about the campaign, go to http://go.unl.edu/combinedcampaign2010. Pledge forms can be downloaded from the site.

Mike Zeleny, assistant vice chancellor for research, is the chair of the UNL effort.

"Each year we have a shared opportunity to make the world a better place through the Combined Campaign," said Zeleny. "Your gift to any of the charities represented will make a difference in the security and quality of life for many others who need our help."

The UNL goal is to raise $430,000 this year, a 3 percent increase over the 2009 total. To date, UNL employees have contributed more than $5.8 million to the campaign.

This year, the UNL campaign will be joined by staff at the Nebraska Alumni Association and the University of Nebraska Foundation.

Organizations supported by the campaign are the United Way, supporting 39 agencies; Community Health Charities of Nebraska, supporting 17 agencies; and the Community Services Fund, supporting 24 agencies. Employees may give to any specific agency or to the three general funds, and a variety of giving options exist.
