Planetarium adds weekday fulldome shows during holidays

Mueller Planetarium at the University of Nebraska State Museum has added weekday fuldome shows to its schedule between Christmas and New Year's.

The planetarium will present additional screenings of "Dark" at 2 p.m. on Dec. 26, 27 and 28. "Dark" explores the search for dark matter, which is estimated to account for 84 percent of the matter in the universe, but can't be detected by telescopes, only by inference from its gravitational effect on visible matter. It is described as the most pressing astrophysical problem of our time; the solution to which will help us understand why the universe is as it is, where it came from, and how it has evolved over billions of years. (Running time is 20 minutes.)

Mueller Planetarium's regular fulldome schedule will resume on Dec. 29, with "Dark" presented at 2 and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and National Geographic's "Sea Monsters" at 7 p.m. on Thursdays.
