IACUC training is Jan. 14-15

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee is hosting general training sessions and refresher courses Jan. 14-15 for those who oversee the care and use of animals in research, teaching and outreach at UNL.

IACUC General Regulation training is 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 14 in the Nebraska Union and 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 15 in the East Union. These sessions meet federal training requirements on laws and regulations regarding using laboratory and food animals in research, testing and teaching at UNL. New personnel, including faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, teaching assistants and animal care staff, and those who have not received this training within the past five years should attend.

Refresher courses for principal investigators who have taken the general regulation training course at least once will be 1 a.m. Jan. 14 in the Nebraska Union and 11 a.m. Jan. 15 in the East Union. Topics include NUgrant protocol submission, review and approval, database searches, Institutional Animal Care Program resources, and updates from regulatory training. Renewal training is required every five years.
