Mary Bomberger Brown, School of Natural Resources, had her research on the evolution of cliff swallows to avoid traffic cited in numerous media outlets in mid-March. Appearances included ScienceNews, NBC News and WIRED, among many others.

Wheeler Winston Dixon, film studies, was quoted March 9 in The Guardian (UK) about Star Wars fans’ nervous wait for Disney’s new sequel in the franchise. On March 13, he was quoted by the Los Angeles Times about Participant Media’s efforts to get its messages out to filmgoers.

John Hibbing, political science, was featured in POLITICO on March 9 about the brain science of politics.

Andrew Jewell, University Libraries and English; and Guy Reynolds, English, appeared in several national publications in late March about the forthcoming edition of Willa Cather’s previously unpublished letters, which Jewell co-edited. Coverage included a March 25 front-page story in the New York Times, a feature story in the Chronicle of Higher Education; a three-page display in the April 5 Chronicle Review, plus stories in The Atlantic Online, The Guardian (UK) and WNYC-New York.

Fred Luthans, management, appeared in a March 10 Associated Press story about a new UNL-National Research Corporation partnership that will study sales workers’ psyches. The story appeared in dozens of media outlets around the country.

David Moshman, educational psychology, wrote a March 15 column in the Huffington Post about deliberative democracy outreasoning enlightened dictatorship.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman was the subject of wide coverage in early March as the “Perls of Knowledge” video and social-media campaign was unveiled. Coverage appeared in The Associated Press, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, The Huffington Post, Mashable and dozens of other media outlets. He also was the subject of coverage on March 6 when he was named chairman of the BCS presidential oversight committee.

Susan Poser, Dean of the University of Nebraska College of Law, was quoted in the National Law Journal about the college’s big jump in the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings.

Mark Svoboda, climatologist with UNL’s National Drought Mitigation Center, was quoted in a March 26 story by The Associated Press about the lack of reserve soil moisture in Nebraska. The story appeared in dozens of news outlets around the country. Center climatologists also appeared in a number of outlets around the region and country in March, including Iowa Farmer Today, the State Journal-Register (Springfield, Ill.), the Delta Farm Press and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Matthew Waite, journalism, was quoted March 12 in the Tampa Bay Times on the subject of regulation for commercial drones. On March 22, he was featured in The Nation (Chile) on the new opportunities journalism holds.
