National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week begins Oct. 4

National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week begins Oct. 4. Former Husker All-American Jason Peter will kick off the week with a talk, "Do It Sober," 7 p.m., Oct. 4 in the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

This annual seminar on alcohol awareness and education is sponsored by Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Gamma Phi Beta.

The week continues with a National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week booth, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 5 at the Wellness Booth in the Nebraska Union. The booth, which will include the game Plinko and prizes, is sponsored by Husker Choices and the University Health Center.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 6 in the Nebraska Union, play Mario Kart Wii wearing special beer goggle glasses and see a display on the costs of driving under the influence. Office Aaron Pembleton of the UNL Police Department will answer questions about alcohol awareness. Free pizza and soda will be provided. This event is sponsored by Husker Choices, University Health Center, UNL Police Department, Sbarro and Papa John's.
